MSD of Wayne Township is gaining national recognition for their unique district-wide energy efficiency project. MSD Wayne, a K-12 district located in Central Indiana, partnered with Veregy in 2022 to implement a district-wide energy master plan, complete with over 15 different energy solutions, or energy conservation measures (ECMs). This project, priced at $26 million, will save the school district over $58 million over the next 25 years.

Solar Builder Magazine, a leading publication centered around renewable energy, recently awarded MSD Wayne Township with “2023 Project of the Year” for their energy conservation project, specifically their inclusion of solar energy and other renewable technologies.

As part of this award, Solar Builder Magazine sat down with both the Veregy project team and Superintendent of MSD Wayne, Dr. Jeff Butts and Mr. Steve Samuel, Assistant Superintendent for Finance & Operations, to learn a little more about the project and elaborate on how renewable technology plays an important role in the yearly savings.
