You need good partners to be able to take on something of this size. It’s one thing to be maintaining the facility, right? It’s one thing to be working on HVAC, electrical, whatever the case may be.
And uh, Veregy does a really nice job with that. Uh, however, the other thing that we meet me personally, I’m really pleased with is the level of professionalism. The, the, the level of strategic thought. You know, what do we do about this? What do we do about that? Veregy partners with us in, in our endeavors here, but in the case of Veregy, just straight to the top. And, uh, they’ve been a fantastic partner for the airport and for me, I’m an aviation person. I’m not a solar person. Uh, Veregy is so the, the best advice I could ever give any other airport is to seek out the experts and speak with them and, and learn from them.

One of the things that we share with our community is energy management is more than just transferring energy from the sun through solar panels. And that’s one of the things that Veregy has done for us. But Veregy has also helped us with making sure that we are monitoring our bills and monitoring our peak load that we’re utilizing so that we can bring additional strategies into our buildings so that we can reduce our peak load, which is what we’re charged on each month, and to maximize, uh, the ability for us to utilize the energy that we’re transferring. We’ve added battery towers in our buildings. We’ve, we’ve added more efficient boilers and chillers. We’ve had variable sensors that allow us to control temperature at, at different times of the day. Uh, so many different opportunities that are up in the ceilings and in rooms that people only walk by, that they don’t actually walk in. So the very visible nature of our solar arrays, uh, certainly is something that our community sees. But all of the other work that Veregy has helped us to discover and to put into our buildings, uh, are things that are helping our community, that are helping our budgets, but are not seen by the, the general public.

Well, one, our, uh, utility costs, you know, was, was a driver in terms of allocating and using more resources for our students and their needs in a day-to-day, on a day-to-day basis. And so we were looking at ways to cut costs and, uh, knowing what solar power could do, energy efficiency could do for our district, uh, was a huge reason why we embarked on this project. Uh, estimates show that we’ll save about a million dollars a year in Energy savings with energy savings when completed.

We get a lot of customer compliments when they come in about the upgrades that have happened to the building. And for a lot of customers too, they were in and out during renovations. So having such visible and noticeable change has been really great for them as well. Um, the lighting has been really significant. Um, even looking at pictures, pre-lighting changes, like you can see how much brighter it is in this space. Um, and a lot of people really enjoy using this space because it’s a bright space. There’s lots of windows that natural light, but not every area of the library had that. So having that lighting change really impacted those corners that have less natural light and made them more inviting for customers to come in and study or, um, just like read and use the library spaces.
