Turnkey, Design-Build and Decarbonization for Water and Wastewater Infrastructure
Water, Wastewater, and Water Meter Solutions
Water and wastewater treatment facilities are critical infrastructures requiring significant energy to operate. Implementing energy efficiency upgrades in these facilities can result in substantial cost savings, reduce environmental impacts, and contribute to sustainable water management practices. Veregy has long-tenured relationships and a holistic approach to design-build, energy upgrades, and smart building solutions for local government water infrastructure. Our extensive capabilities with leak detection, water treatment, and automated meter infrastructure (AMI) enable us to solve the challenges of aging infrastructure, unaccounted-for water, and increased electricity and operating expenses.
According to a report by the U.S. Department of Energy, it is estimated that water and wastewater treatment facilities in the United States consume approximately 3-4% of the nations total electricity usage, making it oneof the most energy-intensive sectors of the infrastructure.
Municipalities with 10% or greater NRW can gain meter accuracy by replacing water meters and redistributing funds to cover the project’s cost. High non-revenue water (NRW) can indicate inaccurate water meters and replacement of aging water meters will optimize revenue generation and promote efficient water management and billing equity.
Water and wastewater treatment facilities consume approximately 3-4% of the nation’s total electricity usage. Implementing equipment upgrades, process optimization, renewable energy sources, and water and wastewater treatment facilities can become more sustainable, efficient, and environmentally friendly.

The City of Eloy Chooses Veregy to Develop WWTP Upgrades.
David Malewitz, City Manager and Brian Wright, Finance Director, share why Veregy was selected to design and build water and wastewater plant improvements.
Veregy collaborated with the City of Eloy to design and install a Guaranteed Energy Savings Project at the city’s water and wastewater facilities. The City’s 15,000 residents had failing, older water/wastewater infrastructure that Veregy replaced using energy savings, deferred maintenance savings, State Revolving Fund (SRF) principal forgiveness, and the Inflation Reduction Act direct payment Investment Tax Credit (ITC). The SRF provided $1.14 million in principal forgiveness, the IRA direct payment provided $620 K, and the local utility provided $6 K in rebates. 43% of this project was paid for by others.
43% of project funding was received from grants, tax incentives and rebates.
