Applications Accepted On March 28, 2022  

The California Energy Commission (CEC) announced that it is accepting applications for Funding Round Two of the AB-841 California Schools Healthy Air, Plumbing, and Efficiency (CalSHAPE) Ventilation and Plumbing Programs starting at 10:00 a.m. on March 28, 2022. Application deadlines for both programs are at 5:00 p.m. on May 31, 2022.

How Does Round II Differ From Round I?

The only difference is the funding amount, with Round II amounts totaling roughly $210MM for the Ventilation program and $65MM for the Plumbing program.

Both programs on are a first-come first served basis, until funding is depleted, and both programs still prioritize investments in facilities in underserved communities and those located near freeways or industrial facilities. What Do The Programs Offer?

Ventilation Program

The CalSHAPE Ventilation Program provides funding to local educational agencies for the reasonable costs of HVAC assessment, general maintenance and adjustment, filter replacement, and carbon dioxide monitor installation including certain repairs, replacements and other improvements to HVAC systems.

Plumbing Program

The CalSHAPE Plumbing Program provides grants to local educational agencies and state agencies to replace noncompliant plumbing fixtures and appliances that fail to meet water efficiency standards. CalSHAPE Plumbing Program prioritizes investments in schools in underserved communities.
