Cultivating the Future Leaders of Sustainable Infrastructure

July 3, 2025

Veregy is committed to supporting Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education by nurturing the future workforce through real-world programs that improve career outcomes and further sustainability education. Designed to empower high school students, Veregy is proud to provide an innovative internship that provides students with a hands-on vocational learning experience. This program offers a unique chance for students to collaborate with Veregy’s seasoned project managers on cutting-edge infrastructure improvement projects within their school districts.

Our internship initiative creates a dynamic learning environment where students can acquire practical skills, gain industry insights, and immerse themselves in a variety of career paths. By engaging students in the intricacies of sustainable energy solutions, we aim to bridge the gap between classroom learning and career experience. All in an effort to expand career options for students and nurture the next generation of talented professionals.

Discover how Veregy has had past internship success with River Bend School District in Fulton, Illinois.

The primary objectives of Veregy’s internship program are:

  • Dynamic career path exploration: Expose students to various career paths, from hands-on vocational and construction career options to professional tracks in engineering, project management, and sustainability management.
  • Provide real-world problem-solving experience: Immerse students in actual infrastructure projects, allowing them to apply classroom knowledge to practical situations in real time.
  • Develop professional skills: Cultivate essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving through mentorship and project involvement.

How the Internship Works:

During the academic year, interns will work alongside Veregy project managers two days per week, with the flexibility to accommodate their class schedules. The internship is unpaid during the school year and is integrated into the student’s regular class schedule. Upon completion of the school year, selected candidates will have the opportunity to work four-hour shifts with project managers during select summer months, compensated at a fair hourly rate.

Eligibility:

To participate in Veregy’s Internship Program, a School District must have an active infrastructure project in progress or be working toward initiating a project. Interested Districts must work with their Account Executive to develop the terms of an internship program for their school and qualifying Veregy infrastructure project.  After the internship program is released to the student body, interested students must submit an online application, including a letter of interest explaining how this opportunity will contribute to their future career preparation.

Building Today to Transform Tomorrow. Support for STEM Education.

Veregy is committed to nurturing the future workforce through STEM programs and sustainability education. Through internships, students explore technical careers that may not follow the traditional college path, providing options for those who thrive outside of office-based roles. Partnering with Veregy for an improvement project brings the added benefit of an internship program to students, providing them with a head start and real-world career experience.

By investing in young talent and providing meaningful experiences in sustainable infrastructure projects, Veregy is committed to shaping a brighter, more sustainable future while helping students build strong foundations for their careers.
