Veregy’s recent work at MBS International Airport in Freeland, Michigan, was featured by TIPS as a “Construction Project Spotlight.” The project showcases how cooperative purchasing can streamline procurement while delivering impactful energy and sustainability improvements.
The MBS project consists of 2 phases:
Phase 1
Phase 1, which was recently completed, included the installation of a 342 kW solar carport system and infrastructure for up to six Level 2 EV charging stations in the rental car return lot. These solutions reduce costs, enhance customer amenities, improve sustainability, and generate additional revenue for the airport.
Phase 2
Phase 2, which is currently underway, includes solar carports for the short-term parking lot and ground-mounted solar arrays for the administration building and the airfield electric vault. It also includes an EV charging infrastructure system with Level 1, 2, and DC fast chargers for automobiles and a beta charger for EV aircraft charging.
Once complete, Phase 2 will provide the airport with an additional 850 kW of solar and 25 EV charging systems, further increasing the airport’s utility savings, customer amenities, sustainability, and revenue generation levels.
“I have had a great experience working with Veregy. They have been very responsive to any concerns I have brought forth and have been very creative with solutions to problems.”
– James Canders, MBS Airport Director
“The project progressed smoothly from concept to contract through the use of two TIPS contracts. The TIPS contract methodology gave the airport confidence that the pricing was competitive on a national level.”
– Corey Harper, Veregy Account Executive
