Morrison Community Unit School District #6 Partners with Veregy to Upgrade District Facilities and Enhance Operational Efficiency

Morrison Community Unit School District #6 has officially launched a comprehensive facility improvement project in partnership with Veregy, a leading energy solutions provider. The infrastructure upgrades, scheduled to begin in June and reach completion in August 2026, will modernize critical building systems across campuses. Crucially for families and staff, all construction will take place over the summer break, resulting in zero disruptions to students and staff.

The high-level project goals focus on shoring up aging infrastructure, ensuring long-term operational reliability, and improving the physical environment of the schools – all while maintaining fiscal responsibility for local taxpayers.

The comprehensive scope of work spans the entire district and includes:

        • Morrison High School: Parking lot replacement and expansion, LED lighting and Lighting Controls, and ceiling upgrades on various areas throughout the building. Flooring upgrades on 1st and 2nd floor corridors. Installation of new electrical receptacles across multiple classrooms and workrooms; a replacement of legacy 1969-addition power panels (including distribution panelboards in storage, kitchen, auditorium, mechanical, and pool areas); new energy-efficient tankless water heaters and recirculation pumps; new gymnasium divider screen; and new Auditorium curtains. New Ceilings, LED Lighting, Painting, and Refinished Wood Flooring in Gymnasium.
        • Morrison Junior High School: Window replacement of the 1959 area, new mezzanine railing. Replace 3 sets of exterior double doors and address site drainage issues. New energy-efficient tankless water heaters and recirculation pumps.
        • Morrison Northside Elementary School: Full Restroom Remodeling/Upgrades, including necessary ADA improvements, new LED lighting on front of building, new energy-efficient tankless water heater replacements, and Music Room/Storage Room Fire-Rated Wall. Improvements also include new flooring in various classrooms.
        • Morrison Southside Elementary School: Full Restroom Remodeling/Upgrades, including necessary ADA improvements, new LED lighting on building exterior, and new energy-efficient tankless water heater replacements. Improvements also include new flooring for various classrooms, library, offices, cafeteria, and gymnasium. The project will also address site drainage issues for the building’s exterior.

“Maintaining a safe, comfortable, and modern environment for our students is a top priority, but so is being an excellent steward of our community’s tax dollars. This partnership with Veregy allows us to proactively address crucial infrastructure needs over the summer months without interrupting the school year. By upgrading our campuses now, we are preventing costly emergency repairs down the road and ensuring our facilities run efficiently for years to come.”
