West Region Projects
Tucson School District
Tucson Unified School District partnered with Veregy to implement an energy savings project. To reduce maintenance costs and energy consumption, a combination of lighting upgrades, weatherization, and building automation systems were installed.
Durango School District 9R teamed up with Veregy to design an energy savings project that included 1.1 MW of solar energy paired with LED lighting and building envelope improvements.
Veregy was the Commissioning Authority for the prestigious Terminal 2 Renovation that achieved LEED Gold certification. This project was a complete renovation of the facility and included many energy efficient and emerging technology applications.
To reduce operating costs and enhance the working environment, Washington County partnered with Veregy to implement improvements in the Courthouse, County Home, and Children’s Services. This included HVAC equipment upgrades, a new building automation system (BAS), LED Lighting upgrades, replacement/retrofit of water fixtures, and weatherization of windows/doors.
The three primary objectives of the project were to decrease operations and maintenance effort and costs, increase indoor environmental quality and occupant comfort, and realize immediate and long-term energy savings.
Veregy worked with the University of California Merced to commission credit tasks associated with LEED® for the New Construction rating system. Additional commissioning services were performed for campus support facilities including a greenhouse, competition pool, competition sports fields and parking lot lighting.
The Annual Colorado Rural Schools Alliance “Redefining Rural Golf Tournament” included a day of beautiful scenery and the opportunity to support Colorado rural schools. This annual golf tournament has raised more than $80,000 for rural student scholarships since its inception in 2021.
The Chinle Community, a Navajo Nation, was experiencing an emergency situation due to flooding caused by a 30-year record snowfall and winter season. The flooding caused many people to evacuate their homes and a shortage of food and water supplies in the region. Recognizing the community’s need for immediate relief, the Veregy team sprung into action and drove 7 hours with a truck and trailer to deliver hundreds of water bottles, non-perishables, and other food supplies to the people of Chinle.
Veregy has built its business creating more efficient and sustainable buildings and we were proud to partner with Valley Metro on their solar shade project. Owing to our longstanding partnership Valley Metro asked us for options around the additional costs of adding solar. We understood from the start that as a public entity Valley Metro would need something that was not only cost-effective but reliable and long-lasting.
Veregy (Formerly Midstate Energy) is not just a vendor. It is a valued partner engaging with us in vital efforts to help our students achieve and succeed. The Veregy (Formerly Midstate Energy) BAS team was amazing to work with throughout the course of the expansive energy management and controls upgrades for our school district. The team worked efficiently, needed little direction, and completed projects throughout the summer with no disruptions to our daily operations. There are not words to express how smoothly and effectively this project was handled. The service was timely, responsive, and completed on schedule. The positive attitudes of everyone on the team throughout the job were an added plus to the quality of the work performed.

At Saddle Mountain Unified School District, we enjoy significant savings through lighting conversion projects and energy management devices. Veregy (Formerly Midstate Energy) has assisted the district in being proactive in energy management. Over the years I have also used Veregy to simply purchase HVAC units. Its pricing is very competitive and its engineering and installation services can’t be beat.
Kirk Waddle
Business Manager, Saddle Mountain Unified School District, Arizona
Since 2015, the Avondale Elementary School District and Veregy (Formerly Midstate Energy) have worked together to provide efficient energy to the district. We began by engaging in a $5.5 million project that provided new HVAC, interior lighting, exterior lighting, and plumbing efficiencies throughout our nine school campuses and three district buildings. Part of the project was for the district to receive energy rebates from various utilities. We were estimated to receive approximately $250,000 in rebates. Through Veregy’s efforts, we actually received more than $450,000 in rebates. Veregy has been truly wonderful to work with. I find them to be a company of integrity, with people who care about they work they do and the relationships they cultivate with our district.
Jill Barragan
Executive Director of Business Services, Avondale Elementary School District, Arizona
I have worked with a variety of electrical and energy service providers over many years of school business. I have found the top companies are fairly competitive in terms of technical expertise. However, Veregy (Formerly Urban Energy Solutions) clearly separates itself from the pack when looking at the quality of the service. We had one instance where an old building that was crowded over capacity lost power. We scrambled trying to figure out how and where we could relocate students. We called Veregy as our go-to for support in this area, and they were at the campus within the hour. They got us back up and running, and school was able to return to normal. In another instance, we had a project that called for an impossible deadline. Several providers told us they couldn’t meet the timeline and in their expert opinion, no one could! Veregy accepted the challenge and completed the project on time and with impeccable results. We have been more than impressed with its service, expertise, attention to detail, and comprehension of what it takes to be a true business partner.
